Back-to-Backs for Both Clubs

Both the Jets and Penguins are coming into Sunday's game having played the night prior. The Penguins dominated a winless Wild team for a 7-4 victory on Saturday, while the Jets rallied from a two-goal deficit for a 3-2 overtime victory over the Blackhawks in the Windy City.

The Jets have won three straight games and have momentum heading back to Bell MTS Place. Although Finnish sniper Patrik Laine had his five-game point streak come to an end on Saturday, Nikolaj Ehlers stepped up with a goal and an assist in the game.

Mark Scheifele scored the OT winner and has six points in his last three games.

The Penguins may have put up seven goals against Minnesota, but the Wild are struggling to start the season. They are yet to win a game and have given up at least four goals in all of their losses. The Penguins offense has been wildly inconsistent, scoring seven goals twice, but managing just four total goals in their three other contests.

This will be the second straight game on the road for Pittsburgh, while the Jets only had to make a trip to Chicago before returning home. The Jets are 7-2 in their last nine games playing on zero days of rest.

Jets Won First Meeting

These two teams are meeting for the second time this week. Winnipeg took down Pittsburgh 4-1 at PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday for their first win in Pittsburgh since 2006.

Connor Hellebuyck made 37 saves in the game, while Patrik Laine and Mark Scheifele each had three assists.

Hellebuyck has been playing very well lately, but he's getting rested on Sunday. The Jets are turning to backup Laurent Brossoit, while the Penguins are expected to go with backup Tristan Jarry.

Brossoit has allowed four goals in each of his two games this season, while Jarry has yet to play this season and only played two NHL games last season. The duel between backup goalies should lead to a healthy amount of goals scored by each side.

Penguins Banged Up

The Penguins are dealing with injuries to several of their notable players. Star forward Evgeni Malkin is sidelined with an upper-body injury,  while reliable goal-scorers Alex Galchenyuk, Nick Bjugstad and Bryan Rust are also out.

The Jets are currently without Dustin Byfuglien on the blueline, but they got top defenseman Josh Morrissey back from injury for Saturday's game. Rookie Villi Heinola has stepped up on the blueline with Jacob Trouba and Tyler Myers no longer on the roster.

Neal Pionk has also been a good fit since arriving in a trade with New York this offseason.

Sidney Crosby remains a world-class talent and was the lone Pittsburgh goal-scorer in the game against the Jets on Tuesday. He's on a five-game point streak with three goals and five assists in that span. Pittsburgh's depth players stepped up in the win against the Wild, and they will need to continue producing with injuries on the roster.

Bet the Jets Plus the Over

With both teams turning to their backup goalies on Sunday, the Jets moneyline and the over is the play here.

Winnipeg's top two lines have looked lethal, but Pittsburgh got their offense going on Saturday. Crosby's line should put up a few goals against a struggling Brossoit, while Winnipeg's big guns will continue to deliver.

The Jets looked great in their only appearance at MTS Place this season and have momentum coming back home. They will extend their winning streak to four games, but the Pens score enough for the game to hit the over.

Pick: Jets to win (-125), Over 6.5 (-108)
