Golden Knights on a Roll
Vegas has dropped four straight to the defending Stanley Cup champions going into Saturday’s matchup at T-Mobile Arena, capped by a 4-2 loss in St. Louis as a -110 bet back on December 12. However, the Golden Knights enter the weekend on a roll, winners in the first three dates on their current four-game home stand, a run that has lifted them to the top of the Pacific Division standings, where they hold a slim two-point lead over the Arizona Coyotes.

The Golden Knights have rebounded from a shaky start to the campaign that was highlighted by a five-game losing streak in early November. Overall, Vegas has posted wins in 12 of its past 18 outings, and has been red-hot at home during that stretch, winning seven of nine to improve its home record on the season to 13-7-3.

The club has also rediscovered its scoring touch during its current win streak, averaging 4.67 goals per game, and has also shown signs of turning things around with the man advantage, scoring three power play goals over the past three games after failing to cash in in nine of their previous 11 contests. But finding the back of the net when facing the Blues remains a challenge. The Golden Knights have potted just seven total goals over four straight losses to St. Louis, and have topped three goals in just one of seven all-time meetings with the Blues, a 4-3 win on home ice back in March 2018.
Blues Mired in Rare Losing Skid
Timing may be on the Golden Knights’ side as the Blues roll into the desert as +115 underdogs after coming up short in the first two dates on their current three-game road trip. St. Louis is coming off a decisive 7-3 loss in Colorado as a +115 underdog on Thursday night — the most goals the club has surrendered this season, and the most goals in a single game that goaltender Jordan Binnington has allowed in his NHL career.

The Blues’ swoon comes on the heels of an eight-game win streak that solidified their perch atop the Western Conference standings. The club powered their recent surge with outstanding defense and goaltending, surrendering just two goals per game, but have now been outscored by a wide 10-4 margin during their two-game slide. However, the Blues have enjoyed steady success in dates with the Golden Knights, and have yet to lose in regulation in seven all-time meetings. And while each of their first three all-time matchups were settled by a single goal, the Blues have claimed victory by multi-goal margins in each of their four recent wins over Vegas.
My God, that is gorgeous. The pass from Pacioretty, to Stone in front.

A key to success for the Blues will be their ability to shut down Vegas snipers Max Pacioretty and Mark Stone. The duo have racked up a combined nine points during the Golden Knights’ current three-game surge, but have struggled to generate offense in past dates against the Blues. Pacioretty has potted just one total goal over his past four appearances against St. Louis, while Stone has recorded just one assist in his past five. And while goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has backstopped Vegas to each of the team’s past three wins, he has been lit up for 15 total goals in four straight losses against St. Louis.
Picks: Blues +115; UNDER 5.5 (+100)
