This weekend marks the last without Major League baseball until the end of October, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be baseball to sweat. The KBO season rolls on Friday with five new series beginning at 5:30 am EST, including a big mismatch on paper.
Third place Kiwoom, fresh off taking two of three from league leading NC, hits the road to face SK, in a game that features a surprisingly high total.

SK Struggling to Score
The Heroes/Wyverns game opened with a total of 11, and it’s going to take a lot of offense from Kiwoom to exceed that number. SK averages only 3.63 runs per game at home this season and just two of their last 10 contests have ended with a total above 11.
The under is 14-5 over the Wyverns’ last 19, and they struggled to find offense last time they faced Heroes starter Seung Ho Lee. The lefty held SK to two runs back on May 20th, striking out seven along the way.

Kiwoom is certainly capable of hanging a big number on any given day, but its bats haven’t been all that hot recently. The Heroes are averaging 4.5 runs over their last 10 and crossed the plate just once on Thursday versus the Dinos.
Pick: Under 11.0 (-120)

Brooks is at his Best
Over the last month, few pitchers have performed as well as KIA’s Aaron Brooks. The 30-year-old picked up a victory over Kiwoom last time out, and has surrendered one run or less in three of his last four outings.

Brooks has allowed the lowest hard hit rate of any starter in the league, which will definitely come in handy against Friday’s opponent Doosan. The Bears possess one of the KBO’s best offenses, but they are not immune to being shut down. In their previous series with the Tigers earlier this season, they averaged just four runs a game – a number that Brooks has given up just once all season.
Doosan will counter with Hui Kwan Yu, who’s allowed 17 runs in his last four outings, three of which were against the bottom-three offenses in the league.
Pick: KIA Tigers moneyline (-135)
KT Wiz and NC Go Over
Two of the top hitting teams square off on Friday when NC hosts KT Wiz. Both squads rank in the top-three in runs, home runs and hits, and the last time they played they combined for 25 runs.
The matchup versus Mike Wright seems daunting on paper for the Suwon, but the right-hander hasn’t had his best stuff recently. He was pulled after just 2.1 innings in his last outing and six of his last seven starts have gone over the total.
KT Wiz will give the ball Hyeong Jun So, who owns a 6.23 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. He’s allowed at least five runs in five of his 10 outings this season, and was recently lit up by Hanwha, the lowest scoring team in the league.
Pick: Over 11.0 (-125)
