Sebastian Formella has yet to taste defeat as a pro but he takes on a two-time welterweight world champion in Shawn Porter.

Porter vs Formella Odds
Odds taken August 20
Porter’s Pressure Game
Porter’s last outing saw him taste defeat to Errol Spence Jr September of last year in what ended up being a hotly contested fight. Shawn Porter lost his WBC world championship in that fight of the year contender on the heels of successfully defending it against Yordanis Ugas in March 2019. A win here for Shawn Porter could easily get the former world champion back into the conversation for another crack at the world title.
Porter does not feel like this pandemic period has negatively affected him and moreover, he thinks there was some residual restoration benefits to the time off. Showtime is now ready to return in a big way. Shawn Porter is an individual who has been battle-tested against the very best that his weight class has to offer.

Formella Knocking on the Door of a Welterweight Title Shot
Sebastian Formella has captured a variety of overseas belts as a middleweight, super welterweight, and welterweight. He has mostly carved out his name on the German circuit but had a sole appearance in Sweden as well. Formella has incrementally moved down divisions and has been a full-time welterweight for the last couple of years.
His last outing saw Formella make his first successful defense of the IBO world welterweight title with a unanimous decision win over Roberto Arriaza. Sebastian Formella had initially captured the title in a comprehensive performance last summer against Thulani Mbenge.

The pressure heavy style game of Porter is something Formella hopes to capitalize on. Sebastian Formella looks to maintain distance and counter punch Porter effectively when the hard-charging former champ continues to aggressively encroach forward. Showtime is acutely aware of this though and will look to use a confluence of both calculated ringcraft/purposeful aggression to draw Formella into that kind of dogfight dynamic that Shawn Porter thrives in.
Porter vs Formella Tale of the Tape
|Paulie Malignaggi, Adrein Broner, Danny Garcia||Significant Wins||Roberto Arriaza, Thulani Mbenge, Ilias Essaoudi|
I think Shawn Porter will be able to do a better job of initiating his game plan overall though. Showtime gets the W and I think he can secure the stoppage victory late in the fight. I think the former halts the latter inside of ten rounds when Porter vs Formella goes down.
Pick: Shawn Porter (-1222)

Main Cards Picks For Porter vs Formella
- Nathaniel Gallimore vs Sebastian Fundora: Gallimore has only lost to the very best in his division but he’s still 1-3 in his last four. Fudora does have an 83% stoppage rate across his last six but Gallimore has never been halted as a pro. I can see the crafty southpaw Fundora notching a points victory in this bout. Pick: Sebastian Fundora (-260)
