Regis Prograis vs Josh Taylor Odds & Picks
- Regis Prograis vs Josh Taylor goes Saturday, October 26th, at 4:00 PM ET
- Will Prograis add one more belt to his already impressive collection?
- Can Taylor score an upset and put the first blemish on Prograis' pro record?
The O2 Arena in London will host Regis Prograis vs Josh Taylor this Saturday (Oct. 26, 4:00 PM ET) in a fight that's electrifying fans and pundits alike. Matchroom Boxing has put together another fun card this weekend with multiple title bouts. Prograis vs Taylor carries the most weight, though.
The American comes in as the favorite, but the moneyline is closer than most recent marquee fights.
Prograis vs Taylor Odds
Fighter | Odds at Bovada |
---|---|
Regis Prograis | -165 |
Josh Taylor | +135 |
*Odds taken Oct. 22.
Both men believe that they're the more complete fighter and the other guy will be in over his head come fight night. There is a level of bad blood heading in as well. The two had an incident in which Taylor head locked Prograis with Taylor claiming Prograis panicked and didn't know what to do. Prograis likened the interaction to horsing around and indicated it wasn't something he took seriously at all.
The two also got heated in a recent sit-down interview with Taylor claiming he sees intimidation while Prograis describes it as confidence coming through.
Prograis Will Progress
This title-unification bout has several prizes on the line. The WBA Super, WBC Diamond, IBF and Ring Magazine super-lightweight titles are up for grabs. Taylor brings the IBF hardware into the ring while Prograis puts up his WBA and WBC gold.
Also, the winner will receive the Muhammad Ali Trophy for winning the World Boxing Super Series tournament. The tournament was announced in June 2018 with only Prograis and Taylor still standing from what began as a field of eight.
Prograis is taking part in an away game here but he's no stranger to overcoming the odds. He had his home flooded during Hurricane Katrina and ended up moving to 17 different places in and around New Orleans thereafter. An eventual move to Houston led Prograis taking up the sweet science after witnessing Evander Holyfield sparring at the famous Savannah gym.
The American fighter Regis Prograis is the current WBC super lightweight champion, and is looking to unify against the Scottish boxer Josh Taylor. Huge fight topping the 02 Arena next weekend.#boxing #wbss #PrograisTaylor pic.twitter.com/5xU20Wg6ql

Both fighters enter Saturday unbeaten and with solid KO rates for the super-lightweight division. Prograis and Taylor have KO rates of 83 percent and 80 percent, respectively.
Taylor will have the partisan support of the UK crowd but Prograis sees that working in his favor. He thinks Taylor will crack under the pressure to perform big for his compatriots.
Prograis vs Taylor Tale of the Tape
24-0 | Record | 15-0 |
20 | Knockouts | 12 |
5'8 | Height | 5'10 |
67″ | Reach | 69.5″ |
Kiryl Relikh, Terry Flanagan, Joel Diaz Jr | Significant Wins | Ivan Baranchyk, Ryan Martin, Viktor Postol |
southpaw | Stance | southpaw |
This fight presents an uncommon southpaw vs southpaw bout. While impressive KO rates can often give the impression of brawlers, these two are also nuanced practitioners of the craft. Though both are technically savvy pugilists with notable stopping power, I still think Prograis has the edge overall. My prediction is that Prograis stops Taylor inside of nine rounds.
Pick: Prograis (-165)
