Odds Favor Pineiro Missing a FG in Opener, Eventually Being Replaced in 2019

- Chicago kicker Eddy Pineiro is the subject of two prop bets for Thursday's NFL season opener
- BetOnline favors Pineiro missing a field goal in the Packers vs Bears Week 1 game
- The first-year kicker is also favored to be replaced before the season ends
Eddy Pineiro, the new kicker for the 2019 Chicago Bears, is under a massive amount of pressure. Bears kicker is a position that holds the same life expectancy as catcher for the javelin team.
Just in time for Thursday's NFL curtain-raiser against the Green Bay Packers, BetOnline is out with a pair of prop bets dealing with Pineiro's fate. The sportsbook favors the first-year placekicker to miss at least one field goal during his NFL debut.
BetOnline is also offering odds that, at some point during the 2019 season, Pineiro will be replaced as the Chicago placekicker.
Will Chicago Bears Kicker Miss a Field Goal in Week 1?

No | +100 |

Pineiro comes to the Bears with impeccable stats. In his final season of NCAA football with the Florida Gators in 2017, Pineiro posted the best field-goal percentage in the nation. He hit on 94.4% of his attempts, going 17-for-18.
Pineiro's career stats in college — 88.4% (38-for-43) field-goal conversion rate — rank him first all-time in Florida history. He hit on 16 straight field goals to finish his NCAA career.
His Bears predecessor, Cody Parkey, opened up last season against the Packers by going 3-for-3 on field goals in a 24-23 loss. But that was at Green Bay's Lambeau field.
At Soldier Field, Parkey went 14-for-19, a 73.7% success rate, with a penchant for doinking uprights. Those numbers get you fired as an NFL kicker.

Parkey did start out by nailing nine of his first 10 field goals with the Bears last season. And he drilled his first four at Soldier Field. He didn't miss one at home until his fourth game.
Based on his career history of accuracy, let's give Pineiro the benefit of the doubt and go against the odds and the naysayers.

Bears kickers are like cabinet secretaries in the Trump Administration. They don't last long and generally leave in disgrace.
Chicago was a rumored destination for USWNT player Carli Lloyd after she kicked a 55-yard field goal at a Philadelphia Eagles practice.
Pineiro finished the 2019 preseason connecting on 8-of-9 field goals and 3-of-4 extra points.

His miscues included a 48-yard field goal attempt against the Carolina Panthers and a missed PAT against the Tennessee Titans.
Chicago Bears Kicker Stats
Season | Kicker | Field Goals | Percentage |
---|---|---|---|
2018 | Cody Parkey | 23-30 | 76.7 |
2017 | Cairo Santos | 1-2 | 50.0 |
2017 | Mike Nugent | 1-1 | 100.0 |
2017 | Connor Barth | 11-16 | 68.8 |
2016 | Connor Barth | 18-23 | 78.3 |
When the weather turns, Soldier Field eats up kickers. Pineiro will go missing as the latest victim of its blustery winds and sub-zero temperatures.
