When Auston Matthews started the season sporting a moustache, it drew mixed reactions from fans, media and even his teammates.
“Feedback's been hit or miss but to be honest with you, I don't really care,” Matthews told Sportsnet's Tim and Sid prior to the start of the NHL regular season.
How long will Matthews keep the moustache? Bovada has set a prop bet on whether the Maple Leafs' sniper will be clean shaven before the All-Star Game, which comes in as an enticing +125.
The early expectation is that Matthews will keep the moustache and shave it off after the All-Star Game, which Bovada is giving opening odds of -165.

Matthews has stated early on that he wasn't sure how long he'd keep the stache, but he was going to start out with it and “see how it goes.”
Nine games in, the Toronto Maple Leafs sniper has seven goals, which is tied for second overall in the league. Mr. October, as he's referred to, is on pace to score 64 goals according to sportsforecaster.com.
Last season — without the moustache — Matthews finished with 37 goals and 73 points in 68 games played. It also marked the second straight season Matthews missed significant time due to injuries.
NHL All-Star Game Set For January 26 In St. Louis
As long as Matthews is putting up points, we may be seeing the moustache stick around longer than many had originally anticipated. However, the bet is whether he'd shave it before or after the NHL's All-Star Game, which is slated for January 26 at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.

Playing in Canada, it's also likely Matthews will keep the moustache for Movember — an annual charity event that raises awareness for men's health. Men show their support by growing unique moustaches, much like Matthews' version.
We'll likely see the moustache for at least another month, but betting on it being gone prior to the All-Star Game is the better bet — especially if either Matthews or the Leafs fall into a slump.
