  • The Philadelphia Eagles opened as three-point home favorites on Sunday over the Seattle Seahawks
  • Since then the line as moved to Eagles -1
  • The Seahawks haven't lost at Philly since 1989 – read below for our prediction

History suggests the Seattle Seahawks will have their way with the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field. The betting line on the game is also steadily moving in that direction.

The 5-5 Eagles opened as three-point home favorites over the 8-2 Seahawks at both Bovada and BetOnline. Betting on the game has since shifted that line to Philadelphia -1, and with good reason.

Seattle is riding a four-game winning streak over the Eagles. At Philly, the Seahawks have also won four in a row.

Seahawks Land On Eagles

This line was puzzling from the moment it opened. Everything historically points to a Seattle victory on Sunday. In fact, everything right now points to a Seattle victory on Sunday.

The 8-2 Seahawks come into this game off their bye week. That means quarterback Russell Wilson and head coach Pete Carroll had two weeks to draw up a gameplan for this one. It also means Wilson and recently-signed receiver Josh Gordon had extra time to get on the same page.

Gordon, added to Tyler Lockett, who's back from a shin injury, and rookie DK Metcalf give Wilson three receiving threats to utilize against Philadelphia's suspect secondary. The Eagles are 17th in the NFL at defending the pass (237.5 yards per game, 7.1 yards per completion).

The Eagles are also without right tackle Lane Johnson (concussion). Andre Dillard who starts in his place, hasn't played right tackle. Ever.

Philadelphia might catch a break, though. Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is a questionable starter due to a hip injury.

It's also uncertain how much running back Jordan Howard (shoulder) and wide receivers Alshon Jeffery (ankle) and Nelson Agholor (knee) will be able to play for Philly.

Philly's hd Their Fill of Seattle

As a road team this season, the Seahawks are 5-0 in the moneyline and 4-1 against the spread. Straight up, Seattle is 5-0 on the road, while Philadelphia is 3-2 at home.

The Seahawks are 4-0 both SU and ATS in their last four games against the Eagles. All four games were double-digit point victories by Seattle. The average margin of victory for the Seahawks in those games was 13 points.

At Philadelphia, the Seahawks are also 4-0 both SU and ATS in their last four visits. Three of those four games ended in double-digit Seattle victories. Two of the wins were via shutout. The average margin of victory was 26 points.

This Line Seems out of Line

No matter how you analyze this game, it's difficult to come to any conclusion that doesn't climax with a Seattle victory.

The Seahawks are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games. They are 9-0 ATS in their last nine games as a betting underdog.

The Eagles have won more games against the Seahawks in Seattle (five) than they have in Philadelphia (two). The last time the Eagles beat the Seahawks in Philly, Buddy Ryan (Eagles) and Chuck Knox (Seahawks) were the opposing coaches. Randall Cunningham was Philly's winning QB.

Wilson leads all NFL QBs with 23 touchdown passes and a 114.9 psser rating. He's only thrown two interceptions and Seattle has scored a minimum of 27 points in eight of its 10 games.

The Seahawks were always going to be the play in this game.

Hopefully, you got in on Seattle when the line was Eagles -3.

Pick: Seattle Seahawks (+1).
