Lennox Clarke +400

Clarke is also undefeated after 20 fights. But Richards is rated a wide favorite at -600 at Bovada while his opponent is rated at +400.

Seven Knockouts for Clarke

With seven knockouts in his unbeaten career, Clarke is the bigger puncher and insists he will use his power to overcome Richards' elusive ability to frustrate and out-box his opponents. At these prices, the only value on offer is to take a chance on outsider Clarke landing the big one.

The slick-handed Richards is nicknamed “Sniper The Boss” and has three knockouts to his name.

Clarke will hold home advantage because the fight takes place near his hometown of Halesowen while Richards hails from south London.

The clash takes place on the undercard of the WBO world bantamweight title collision between Filipino John Riel Casimero and South African Zolani Tete.

Richards won the vacant Commonwealth title belt in April this year when he scored a unanimous points decision against Tommy Langford at Wembley Arena in London.

Aged 27, southpaw Richards, 27, was a hugely successful amateur – winning 90 fights before he turned professional in September 2013. He won nine amateur titles in the UK.

It was widely believed that he was taking a testing step up in class but he handled the challenge well and dominated the contest to prove that he could have a big future in the sport.

Richards claimed the WBO “International” Super middleweight title on the same evening.

Gym-time with Billy Joe Saunders

He has worked extensively at times in the gym with former Frank Warren promotional stablemate Billy Joe Saunders, the current WBO super-middleweight world champion and former WBO middleweight champion.

Saunders believes Richards is one of the best up-and-coming young operators in British boxing and said: “When it comes to talent, Lerrone is up there with the top five in Britain I mean that 100-percent. He is very, very talented.”

Opponent Clarke’s most recent win was a points win over four rounds against Darryl Walsh at Walsall in the English Midlands in September. Along with his 19 wins, he drew with Czech Karel Horesjek in May 2017.

He plans to take advantage of Richards' tendency to be over-elaborate in order to show off the range of his boxing artistry.

“Lerrone is a boxer-mover and not a puncher,” Richards said. “I am going to steamroller him and bring it to him. That is what our game plan is.”

Clarke also aims to make his greater experience an important factor in the contest.

“Lerrone is a boxer-mover and not a puncher,” Richards said. “I am going to steamroller him and bring it to him. That is what our game plan is.”

“I can't let him do what he needs to do because he is very good at that. He is a very good fighter and our job is to stop him being good.”

In his 16th fight, the 28-year-old Clarke won the little-regarded IBO Continental super-middleweight title with a unanimous points win over fellow Briton Jahmaine Smyle.

No Major Title Experience

However, he has not fought for a major belt before while Richards has the experience of winning a Commonwealth title.

The fighters are more or less evenly matched when it comes to height and reach.

So it is likely to be an intriguing collision of styles with Richards aiming to dazzle and out-maneuver Clarke – and his opponent looking to land big and hurtful shots.

Clarke added: “The perfect scenario now is me knocking him out in the first round.”

“This is the biggest stage I will have been on. It is in my home city and for the biggest titles I've challenged for in my career.”

Pick: Clarke +400
