Kyler Murray Back to Being Favored in 2019 OROY Odds After Picking Up First Win
- Kyler Murray once again has the shortest 2019 Offensive Rookie of the Year odds
- Daniel Jones is second, followed by Gardner Minshew
- Who's the best bet right now?
The Offensive Rookie of the Year race in the NFL has already taken fascinating twists and turns. Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was favored to win the award in the preseason. However, few weeks into the year, his NFL OROY odds fell as his team remained winless.
But a 26-23 victory over the Bengals in Week 5, capped off by a game-winning field goal drive orchestrated by the #1-overall pick, has led to Murray surging back into his role as betting favorite.

How Have Murray's Odds Changed?
Entering Week 1, Murray was +150. After a few bad games from the Cardinals, and the emergence of Daniel Jones with the Giants, Murray's odds fell to +300.
A couple more average performances saw his odds plummet further to +380 (on Oct. 2).
But it's only taken one win over a miserable Cincinnati team to recoup all of those losses.
Who's The Best Bet?
Don't buy into the Daniel Jones hype. His play will fall off as the Giants face better defenses, and said defenses are able to tee off on the NY passing game while Saquon Barkley is sidelines.
This award will come down to Kyler Murray and Gardner Minshew. Murray has been the best offensive rookie this year, in terms of consistency. Jones and Minshew may have had better games, but Murray has been the more reliable quarterback, and he is showing progress week to week.
So far, Murray has thrown for 1,324 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions. Jones, meanwhile, has thrown for 760 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions, albeit in fewer games.
Minshew comes in at 1,279 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and one interception. The sixth-round rookie has been the surprise of the season, keeping the Jaguars in the playoff hunt after the team lost starter Nick Foles early in Week 1.
At these current odds, I like the value Minshew presents at +325. He is nearly as prolific as Murray, but has the advantage of being on a team that's actually in contention. If he can lead Jacksonville to the playoffs, he will have an all important narrative that voters can buy into.
I think it is a two-person race between Kyler Murray and Gardner Minshew, but the pick is Minshew.
Pick: Gardner Minshew (+325)
