Dinos Continue Dominance over Defending Champs

Once again Doosan and NC headline the five-game slate, as the first place Dinos will look to continue their dominance over the defending champs.

Dinos Own Lee in 2020

On Friday, NC pounded 14 hits and put up double-digit runs en route to a 10-7 victory. The win improved them to 7-3 against third place Doosan this season, and the Dinos have now outscored the Bears 65-56 in 2020. Just two of their 10 meetings have been one-run games, with seven of those matchups being decided by three or more runs.

Saturday’s matchup looks to be another high scoring one, at least from NC’s perspective, as they’ll face Young Ha Lee. The Dinos have absolutely wrecked Lee in two matchups this season, scoring seven times in 5.2 innings back in June, and putting up another four runs in 4 innings three weeks earlier.

NC’s bats have racked up 19 runs in their last two contests, while Lee has surrendered at least four runs in four straight starts, and seven of his last eight outings.

The Dinos will counter with Mike Wright, who’s been terrific in two starts against the Bears this season. He’s held the league’s second highest scoring offense to only two runs in 10 innings of work, picking up a victory in each outing.

Hanwha and LG Go Over

We love picking on Warwick Saupold in this article and that isn’t about to change. The right-hander is the only KBO pitcher with eight losses on his resume, and he’s allowed 26 runs in his last five starts.

One of those outings was two weeks ago against Saturday’s opponent LG, and saw the Twins light Saupold up for six runs over 7.1 innings. LG is 9-1 versus Hanwha this season, with each of those victories coming by at least two runs. That brings the Twins -1.5 into our focus, but that’s not all. The over in this game is also enticing thanks to who LG will be giving the ball to.

Saupold vs Kim Statistics

Yun Sik Kim will make just his second career start, after spending the majority of this season in the bullpen. The 20-year-old has a 6.75 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in 11 appearances, and gave up five runs in five innings in his only start. He’s allowed 1.38 hits per inning and at that rate even the light-hitting Eagles can take advantage of him.

It doesn’t hurt that Hanwha’s offense has shown some positive signs this week, racking up 12 runs in a victory over Samsung on Wednesday.
