Caleb Plant vs Mike Lee Odds & Picks
- Plant vs Lee goes Saturday, July 20th, at 7 PM ET
- Will Plant retain his title and maintain his unblemished record?
- Can Lee stay undefeated and capture a world championship?
Caleb Plant vs Mike Lee goes this Saturday (July 20, 7 PM ET) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This is a high-stakes super middleweight tilt on Saturday's Premier Boxing Champions card, one of three title bouts on a card topped by Manny Pacquiao against Keith Thurman.
Plant is the unbeaten IBF Super middleweight champion while Lee is an undefeated challenger with a slight experience advantage. Someone's O has got to go! Preview and prediction below!
Plant vs Lee Odds
*Odds taken 07/16/19
Plant makes his first title defense
Saturday's 12-round contest marks Lee's first world-title bid. Lee has a bit of a size advantage as he normally plies his trade at 175 pounds, but is going down to 168 for this fight. He is coming off of a 13-month layoff ahead of this IBF title fight.
Plant is five years younger and is entering as the defending titleist.
Despite this being his first world title fight, Lee isn't unfamiliar with hardware. He has collected multiple belts at light-heavyweight and cruiserweight (UBF, USBA, and NABO) and is no pushover.

That said, it's hard to ignore the body of work Plant has been compiling as of late. His drubbing of Jose Uzcategui was against the man perceived as the division's boogeyman. Plant took that bout without hesitation, put on a clinic, and captured the belt with high-level pugilistic precision.
“Sweethands” is an apt nickname for Plant, who is a true student of the sweet science and paints masterful portraits on his canvas. He doesn't seem to have lost any hunger, either, now that he's champion. Per prior media calls, Plant seems locked in. He does not see himself as the hunted and still has a hunger and fervent fighter mentality.
Plant vs Lee Tale of the Tape

There's also a narrative element that relates to the two fighters' respective upbringings.
Lee has a university degree in finance while Plant grew up poor and in a grinding, rural environment. Plant also had a young daughter pass away relatively recently but has put on amazing performances in the ring despite all of this crushing heartache.
Prediction: Neither man has a particularly remarkable KO rate (both are floating just above 50%). I expect this fight to go to the judges. Plant will have his hand raised and the scorecards should reflect a fairly dominant performance.
Pick: Plant (-1944)
