61% of Money Is on Packers to Beat Bears; 65% of ATS Money Is on Chicago, Though
- The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears kick off the NFL's 100th season tonight
- The Bears are listed as 3-point favorites
- But 61% of the money wagered on the moneyline is on the Packers
We have (impatiently) waited 214 days to bet on (meaningful) football. But the day is finally here. We get to bet on football again!!
And it's quite clear I'm not the only one excited for the Packers and Bears to kickoff the NFL's 100th season, as money has been pouring in all week at our sportsbooks.
With months to ponder what type of bet you want to make on tonight's (Thursday, September 5 at 8:20pm ET) game and which side you want to bet, the majority of moneyline bettors have decided they're siding with the Packers; the vast majority of spread bettors remember how well Chicago performed last year as a home favorite and are going with the favored Bears; meanwhile the under has been the popular play for totals bettors.
Breakdown of Bet & Money Percentages for Packers vs Bears
Team | Spread (bet% / money%) | Moneyline (b% / m%) | Total (b% / m%) at GTbets |
---|---|---|---|
Green Bay Packers | +3 (41% / 34.4%) | +150 (71% / 61%) | O 47 (40% / 35%) |
Chicago Bears | -3 (59% / 65.6%) | -170 (29% / 39%) | U 47 (60% / 65%) |

The Bears opened as 3.5-point favorites back in April and the line stayed the same until mid-August, moving to CHI -3. Chicago was originally a -190 favorite on the moneyline, but all the money coming in on Green Bay has resulted in their odds coming down to -170.

The percentage of money on the Packers to win this game was even more lopsided two days ago, when Green Bay was seeing a whopping 80% of the money wagered.
I completely understand why bettors like the value in getting plus odds to back Aaron Rodgers – also read, one of the best quarterbacks in the game.
Replaying Week 1 of 2018
These two also met in Week 1 of last season, but that one was played at Lambeau Field – a game many Packers fans won't forget anytime soon.

Even after suffering what was later revealed to be a sprained MCL before the first half was over, Aaron Rodgers still led the Packers to victory, though he did need to orchestrate a 21-point comeback to get the 24-23 win.
Bears Haven't Fared Well Against Packers Recently
The Bears may have won the last meeting between the two rivals, but Chicago hasn't really enjoyed these games over the last decade. Since 2009, the Packers have won 17 of the 21 games between the two.
Will Rodgers' dominance over the Bears continue tonight? Let us know which side you're on in tonight's game below!
