Belmont Stakes Odds | 2020 Race

[ad_1]
Sporting events with no fans in attendance are likely to be a common occurrence for the remainder of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the 152nd Belmont Stakes is no exception. The prestigious horse race is expected to kick off the Triple Crown on Saturday, June 20, and Tiz The Law is the slight betting favorite at +200.
The best horse racing betting sites have Tiz The Law just over Charlatan (+250), who is currently the co-fave to win the Kentucky Derby. The race at Churchill Downs was postponed to September and will be the second leg of the Triple Crown instead of the opener, with the Preakness Stakes now slated for October.
If you’ve never bet on horse racing before and are unsure of which sportsbook to use, don’t sweat it. Odds Shark has put together a handy guide that even seasoned bettors may want to review to ensure you’re picking the best betting site for you.

Broadcast Dates and Key Betting Info
The Belmont Stakes is an annual horse race put on by the New York Racing Association at Belmont Park and will be broadcast on NBC from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET. Usually, the Belmont falls on a busy sports weekend, with the NBA and NHL playoffs underway and the MLB season in full swing, but with return dates for sports up in the air, this could be the only game in town.
Although the Belmont Stakes is running two weeks later than in previous years, there are some slight changes to the race that bettors need to know about. For example, a key change is that the length of the race has been reduced from its traditional 1.5 miles to 1.13. For reference, it’s been held at 1.5 miles since 1926.
That’s why the Belmont has usually been the last of the three Triple Crown races as it allows three-year-old horses time to develop and build up endurance for the longer race. Now, to sweep this year’s series, a horse will have to win in June, come back in September for the Kentucky Derby, and then wait another month for the Preakness Stakes. That’s something to keep in mind for bettors aiming to wager on Triple Crown props.
The three horses that appear to make the best case for a Triple Crown bid are Tiz The Law, who won the Florida Derby, and colts Nadal and Charlatan from trainer Bob Baffert, with each recently winning a division at the Arkansas Derby.

Understanding Belmont Stakes Odds
When you check out futures betting props like Belmont Stakes Odds at your sportsbook, you’ll see odds that look something like this:
Tiz The Law +200
Charlatan +250
Nadal +450
To bet on these odds, you would be making a futures bet. If this were a moneyline bet, you’d be able to see which horse is the clear favorite because it would have a minus sign beside its odds (-). For these futures, the horse with the lowest odds is favored to win the Belmont Stakes and the rest are underdogs.
If you think Tiz The Law will win the Belmont Stakes and you bet $100 on the stallion, you’d get a payout of $300 – you get your $100 back along with your winnings of $200. Our Odds Calculator will show you how much you’d win based on the odds and amount bet.
