The Calgary Stampeders, as they have been since before the 2017 Grey Cup, remain atop the oddsboard to win the Grey Cup in November. This week they head to Hamilton, a potential 2018 Grey Cup foe, with +125 odds to win the whole thing. There’s plenty of movement below them on the board and nobody has been hotter than the Saskatchewan Roughriders over the past month.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have been on an absolute tear since upsetting the first-place Stampeders back in Week 10. They’ve won six of their last eight games and four in a row (including a home-and-home sweep of their hated rivals from Winnipeg) and now sit just two games out of first place in the West Division.
Oddsmakers have noticed this mid-late season movement and have rewarded Saskatchewan with +450 odds to win the Grey Cup. The Riders have an excellent chance to move closer to first this weekend when they host the Redblacks at Mosaic.
STILL TIME TO GET IN ON THE TIGER-CATS
This is where I make my weekly argument that in order to win the Grey Cup, you first must advance to the Grey Cup game. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats, in my opinion, are the class of the East Division. Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal, while showing intermittent flashes, all have too many glaring inconsistencies in their game.
With that said, and the Tabbies at +550 to win the Grey Cup, taking them as a futures bet today will give you a much better payoff in the event that they do win the league. I can guarantee that you won’t get them at +550 if you wait and pick them as an underdog on November 25.
