Veikkaus Adds Yggdrasil’s Entire Casino Games Portfolio
Finland’s gambling monopoly Veikkaus has gone live with the entire online casino games library of major creator and supplier of content for the iGaming industry Yggdrasil.
Following successful integration of its offering with Veikkaus, Yggdrasil now has access to Finland’s regulated online gambling space.
The state-run gambling operator has rolled out the provider’s entire portfolio of casino games, including player favorite Vikings trilogy as well as Lilith’s Inferno, Sahara Nights, and Golden Chip Roulette, among others.
Veikkaus announced in October 2018 that it had signed online casino content supply deals with some of the industry’s major software providers, including NetEnt and Yggdrasil. That announcement indicated that the gambling monopoly planned to focus more of its attention on its digital gaming operations as opposed to retail businesses. The company went live with a selection of NetEnt’s most popular titles over the summer.
Veikkaus is the only business authorized to provide gambling services on the territory of Finland. It announced this past spring that it would spend €4 million and €8 million to reshuffle its digital arm and adjust it to the growing demand for high-quality online gambling offering.
The move could also be interpreted as Veikkaus attempt to offset the ever-increasing competition from international online gaming and betting companies that keep servicing Finnish gamblers, even though they are not authorized to do so.
Commenting on the addition of Yggdrasil’s suite of online casino titles, Veikkaus President Casino Games Jan Hagelberg said that their customers are “increasingly choosing to play online and on mobile, and we are thrilled to be able to add Yggdrasil’s impressive portfolio.”
Yggdrasil CEO Fredrik Elmqvist added that with Veikkaus being one of the largest gaming operators in Europe and a well-known name in the industry, they are excited about “offering its large and rapidly expanding customer base our growing portfolio of innovative casino games.”
Yggdrasil recently premier its new big innovation, the Splitz game mechanic. Players will be introduced to the new feature for the first time in the content studio’s upcoming new release Temple Stacks, that thanks to the new engine offers more than 248,000 ways to win.
As part of its online gambling overhaul, Veikkaus has also recently tapped sports betting technology provider SBTech to power its online sports betting operation. SBTech won earlier this year a public procurement process to secure a multi-year partnership with the Finnish gambling monopoly to help it “elevate and enhance” the offering it provides to Finnish bettors.
As a result of the deal, SBTech would integrate its sports betting platform technology to Veikkaus’ online channel and would launch a brand-new regulated Finnish sportsbook in early 2020. The technology provider would also power the gambling operator’s retail betting network.
The partnership between SBTech and Veikkaus is set to completely revamp the operator’s existing pre-match and in-play betting services and to provide its customers with the opportunity to choose from more than 55 sports and over 2,000 betting markets.
