Theta Labs, WPT Partner for 24/7 Poker Live Channel

Blockchain video delivery network Theta Labs has teamed up with the World Poker Tour (WPT) for the launch of an ‘always-on’, 24/7 poker live channel on THETA.tv, news emerged a few days ago.

THETA.tv is an innovative eSports entertainment platform that is powered by the Theta blockchain. The WPT is the first non-eSports partner Theta Labs has teamed up with to diversify the content delivered via its THETA.tv project.

Thanks to the recently penned deal, THETA.tv users will be offered access to classic WPT programming, including the World Poker Tour Main Tour Seasons VIII through XVI, WPT Alpha8 Seasons I through III, WPT Greatest Seasons I and II, and King of the Club Season I.

In addition to this, THETA.tv will deliver live 2020-2021 poker events and tourneys that are set to be held at the HyperX Esports Arena at the Luxor Las Vegas and at other facilities around the US.

As mentioned above, the new WPT-dedicated channel will be always-on, 24/7. Users will be able to follow action across desktop, mobile, and smart TVs.

And as already noted, the popular live tournament poker brand is Theta Labs’ first partner outside the eSports category as the rapidly growing decentralized video distribution network seeks to diversify its content and provide users with meaningful and relevant programming beyond the world of eSports.

Partnership between Innovators

Commenting on their partnership with the WPT, Theta Labs Co-founder and CEO Mitch Liu said that his company and the major poker series “are innovators in our respective industries” and that their global deal “will provide users with a new, ground-breaking way to watch the best televised poker product in the world.”

Mr. Liu went on to say that they are looking forward to deeper integration of the Theta Network within the WPT. As mentioned earlier, the new WPT-dedicated channel will be powered by Theta Labs’ peer-to-peer blockchain technology.

World Poker Tour CEO Adam Pliska commented that they are excited to be featured on THETA.tv, which is a clear innovator in the rapidly growing video streaming space.

Mr. Pliska also pointed out that as THETA.tv and the Theta Network continue to grow in size, they “look forward to offering additional assets and programming on the platform in the upcoming future.”

It should also be noted that THETA.tv offers users the chance to earn TFUEL token rewards for sharing excess bandwidth while viewing WPT poker content.

Theta Labs was founded in 2017 and is based in Cupertino, California. It is primarily focused on eSports content, but as it can be seen it is now focusing on areas beyond video game competitions.
