NetEnt Casino Titles Now Live in Pennsylvania

Swedish supplier of online casino content NetEnt today said that it has been live in Pennsylvania from the first day of regulated online gambling in the state.

Three of Pennsylvania’s authorized online casinos went live earlier this week to mark the start of a new era in the development of the state’s gaming and betting industry. Pennsylvania has thus become only the fourth state with legal digital casino gambling in the US.

NetEnt was granted an Interactive Gaming Manufacturer Conditional License by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board in March this year. The conditional license means that the Swedish company will be able to provide its products and services to locally licensed operators while its application for a permanent license is under review by regulators.

With population of nearly 13 million people, Pennsylvania is the fifth largest state in the US. In addition, it currently is the largest state to provide online gambling services, followed by neighboring New Jersey with 8.9 million people.

Pennsylvania has long gambling traditions with its 13 brick-and-mortar casinos. In 2017, Gov. Tom Wolf signed a comprehensive gambling package that included the legalization of online gambling and sports betting to boost the state’s budget.

The state’s first retail sportsbooks went live this past fall, while its first digital betting operations were launched in late May. Regulated online casino gaming officially kicked off this past Monday.

NetEnt’s Pennsylvania Partnerships

After applying for a license with the Gaming Control Board last year, NetEnt started looking for local partners to go live with. The Swedish casino games supplier first announced a customer agreement with Penn Online Entertainment, LLC, the online gambling arm of Penn National Gaming.

Earlier this year, NetEnt boasted a similar agreement with Parx Online, the iGaming operation of Parx Casino.

On Monday, July 15, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course, a property operated by Penn National Gaming, soft-launched its online casino to become Pennsylvania’s first legal online gaming operation. That launch was followed by the start of Parx Casino’s online casino later that day. The two properties going live with their operations also marked NetEnt’s entry into the local market.

Commenting on their latest milestone, NetEnt Americas Managing Director Erik Nyman said that he is pleased that the Pennsylvanian market has now opened and that they are “one of the few online casino suppliers offering our games right from the start.”

Mr. Nyman added that he is convinced their casino games will be “much appreciated by players in Pennsylvania.”

Earlier this year, NetEnt celebrated another important US expansion milestone. The company was granted a permanent license by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. The Swedish provider first entered New Jersey in September 2015, when it obtained a transactional waiver by local regulators to supply online casino games in the state, while its application for a permanent license was under review.

NetEnt has since then been working with a number of operators authorized to provide their products on the territory of the state. The company’s recently granted permanent license in New Jersey was its first such license in the US and marks an important step in its US expansion goals.
