Melco’s Morpheus Receives Duo of Prestigious Property Awards
Melco’s Morpheus hotel and gaming tower at City of Dreams Macau once again got recognized for its unique architecture and design
The recently opened Morpheus hotel at City of Dreams Macau has scooped two prestigious awards at this year’s edition of Asia Pacific Property Awards, gaming and hospitality giant Melco Resorts & Entertainment announced in a press release from earlier today.
Melco’s latest addition to its wealthy portfolio of properties has been announced as winner of Best Hotel Architecture Macau and Best New Hotel Constrution & Design Macau. Morpheus is part of the hotel and casino operator’s flagship resort City of Dreams located on Macau’s Cotai strip, known to be the Asian counterpart of the legendary Las Vegas Strip.
Morpheus opened doors in June 2018 as the world’s first free-form exoskeleton high-rise building. The hotel was designed by the late Dame Zaha Hadid, one of the most creative contemporary architects, who left behind a legacy of iconic architectural works after passing away in 2016. Melco invested more than $1.1 billion into the development of the unique building.
Aside from the recent accolades from the Asia Pacific Property Awards 2019, which celebrates “the highest levels of achievement by companies operating in all sectors of the property and real estate industry”, Morpheus was also recognized as one of the World’s Greatest Places of 2018 by the TIME Magazine just a couple of months after its grand opening. Most recently, ArchDaily named the Morpheus Building of the Year of 2019.
Quality Excellence in Architecture, Construction, and Design
Commenting on Morpheus and Melco’s latest accolades, the company’s Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho said that they are thrilled the building’s “quality excellence in architecture, construction, and design” has been recognized, thus “further reinforcing Melco’s position as a global premium brand.”
Morpheus represents several important architectural and technological breakthroughs with its design and unconventional construction. Its two towers are connected at podium level and at the roof and two additional bridges offer guests the opportunity to experience a series of external voids within the building.
Morpheus features more than 770 spacious rooms, suites, and villas, a sky pool located 130 meters above ground, retail space, multiple dining options, including two Michelin-starred Alain Ducasse at Morpheus and Yi, a Chinese restaurant offering sky-high views of Macau, VIP gaming space and VIP villas on the building’s top floor and a number of entertainment options and various attractions.
