EveryMatrix White Label Division Closes Shop in UK, Following License Suspension

Gambling technology provider and white label casino and betting operator EveryMatrix has decided to shut down its B2C white label operations in the UK, following the recent suspension of its B2C license by the UK Gambling Commission.

The company announced its decision today in a statement on its official website, and noted that its B2B software provision license will remain active. This means that EveryMatrix will be able to continue to provide online gambling software solutions to UK-facing operators.

EveryMatrix first launched its white label operations in 2014. The company said today that after “many years of successful and unproblematic B2C operations in the UK,” it was forced to consider its local B2C business “irreparably damaged,” despite its efforts to prove to the UK Gambling Commission that it was capable of operating in a “safe, responsible, and compliant manner.”

The UK Gambling Commission announced earlier this month that it had decided to suspend the white label remote casino and betting operations of EveryMatrix and that it had instigated a review of those operations under Section 116 of UK’s Gambling Act.

EveryMatrix said shortly after that its license would remain suspended until it could demonstrate that it had taken the necessary steps to ensure that its white label operations were fully compliant with a set of social responsibility obligations under its license. The company further revealed that the Gambling Commission had expressed concerns with how its B2C white label brands managed customer interactions.

”Unsalvageable” Business

EveryMatrix said earlier this month that it saw its license suspension as “an opportunity to strengthen its compliance processes and procedures.” The company even tapped gambling compliance start-up beBettor to “radically improve” its operational compliance in the UK market.

beBettor provides an API that checks gamblers’ affordability based on information provided by them and their actions on a given gambling website. The tool can also cross-reference gambling customers’ actions on other websites that are connected to the beBettor network.

Despite its efforts, EveryMatrix has apparently failed to convince the UK Gambling Commission that it can follow the compliance rules that are currently in place.

Commenting on their decision to exit UK’s gambling market, EveryMatrix’s CEO, Ebbe Groes, said that they fully respect the Gambling Commission’s decision and that they acknowledge the regulator’s wish to substantially change how white label operations are conducted on the territory of the country.

Mr. Groes added that they “regret the impact this suspension has had on our loyal players, on our brands, and on our long-standing white label partners in UK, but this business has by now become unsalvageable.”

Following the closure of its UK B2C business, EveryMatrix will focus “even harder” on its B2B operations in the local market. Mr. Groes said that it was namely its B2B division that has enjoyed “tremendous growth in the past several years.”

The casino and betting websites affected by EveryMatrix’s departure from the UK B2C space are bookee.co.uk, pwrbet.com, fantasino.com, playfrank.com, sportingindex.com, westcasino.com, dragonaraonline.com, jetbull.com, mrwin.com, and casinomulti.com.
